Slow Cooker Turkey Taco Sloppy Joes

  • 20 oz package lean ground turkey
  • 1 envelope taco seasoning
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cup taco sauce
  • 6 hamburger buns
  • 1 cup Crystal Farms Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced cherry tomatoes
  • 1 tbsp sour cream

  • Place thawed ground turkey into slow cooker and turn on high.
  • Sprinkle taco seasoning over ground turkey and cover with lid.
  • Allow turkey to cook for about 45-60 minutes, then lift lid and break up ground turkey and stir seasoning.
  • Add water and taco sauce to meat mixture and thoroughly mix.
  • Replace lid and continue to cook on high for another 2 hours, checking occasionally and stirring meat until completely cooked.
  • When ground turkey is fully cooked, reduce temp to low and continue to stir occasionally to further break up meat crumbles to desired size.
  • Transfer meat to serving dish.
  • Assemble Sloppy Joes and add desired toppings.
  • Enjoy.

Chef’s Tips & Suggestions: 

  • Use a potato masher for a smaller crumble consistency.
  • If you prefer more saucy sloppy Joes, add more taco sauce to the mixture while simmering.
