Steamed Vegetables with Cheese Sauce

Vegetables are always better served with a tasty cheese sauce. Making a homemade cheese sauce recipe doesn’t get any easier than when you use Crystal Farms shredded Mac & Cheese 3-Cheese Blend. It's made with Sharp Cheddar, American and Swiss.


  • 3 tbsps Crystal Farms® Butter
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup 2% milk
  • 1 cup(4 oz) Crystal Farms Shredded Mac & Cheese
  • 1 lb fresh broccoli florets, cauliflower florets or baby-cut carrots


  • Melt butter in 2-quart saucepan over low heat. Stir in flour and salt. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is bubbly. Slowly whisk in milk, whisking constantly, until sauce is smooth. Bring sauce to a boil; boil 1 minute. Stir in shredded Mac & Cheese blend. Cook, stirring occasionally, until cheese is melted.
  • Cook vegetables in microwavable dish with a small amount of water. Cooking time will vary depending on type and size of vegetable. Season vegetables with salt and pepper as desired.
  • Serve hot cheese sauce over vegetables.
